Prosthetic-Implant Consultation

The first step towards performing an implantation procedure is a consultation, during which the doctor conducts a thorough interview, determines the patient’s expectations, identifies the necessary tests to be performed, and proposes the optimal implant-prosthetic treatment method for the particular case.

During the visit, the patient will receive information regarding the procedure itself, as well as the appropriate preparation and post-operative care. Before the implantation procedure, we ask the patient to undergo a tomographic examination (CBCT – cone-beam computed tomography), based on which the doctor assesses the quantity and quality of the bone at the site where the implant will be placed. The examination allows for detailed planning of the procedure and its safe and minimally invasive execution.

At this stage, the doctor decides whether bone augmentation or a procedure to lift the floor of the maxillary sinus will be necessary (each person has two maxillary sinuses, air-filled spaces adjacent to the nose). If there is an insufficient amount of bone at the planned implant site, bone augmentation is necessary. After planning the implant treatment, the patient receives a preliminary cost estimate for the treatment.

Surgical Procedure

The surgical procedure is the stage during which the implantologist surgeon implants the implant into the bone. This stage is performed under local anesthesia and is completely painless for the patient. The procedure takes about 30-45 minutes. The oral surgeon incises and detaches the mucous membrane, and then drills one or several holes, depending on the needs, using special drills. The next step is to insert the implant and suture the detached mucosa.

After the surgical procedure, the surgeon sutures the mucous membrane over the implant, and the process of implant integration into the bone, called osseointegration, begins. This stage can last 3-6 months depending on the implantation site, bone augmentation procedure, and the patient’s overall condition (associated illnesses).

The first two weeks after the procedure have a significant impact on the success of the implantation, during which the tissues heal. It is crucial to adhere to the doctor’s recommendations during this period:

  • Only consume liquid and semi-liquid foods after the procedure.
  • In the period of 7-14 days, the oral cavity should be rinsed with saline solution after each meal to maintain proper hygiene.
  • After the first 2 weeks, visit the doctor to adapt the prosthesis to the changed conditions in the oral cavity.
  • Bruising and hematomas are common complications that do not require additional treatment.

Prosthetic Phase

The prosthetic phase involves the fabrication of crowns on the implanted implant. After the osseointegration period, visits are scheduled to create crowns on the implants. During the first visit, the implant is exposed, and a healing abutment is screwed in or, in the aesthetic zone, a temporary crown is placed. After about 6 weeks, impressions are taken for the final prosthetic crown.

Thanks to the proven implant systems we use and durable materials such as porcelain and zirconia, we ensure high durability, quality, and aesthetics of the restored teeth.

Advantages of Dental Implants

  • Function like natural teeth, providing complete comfort.
  • Do not require grinding of healthy adjacent teeth, which is necessary for traditional dental bridges.
  • Look aesthetically pleasing and are indistinguishable from natural teeth.
  • Preserve against bone loss that occurs after tooth loss.
  • By evenly distributing loads, they stimulate bone and gum tissue, allowing for the maintenance of the correct amount of bone and facial features.
  • Restore proper chewing functions, enabling the consumption of favorite foods without any limitations.

What are implants?

An implant is a component that replaces the root of a tooth. Dental implants are inserted into the jawbone or maxilla. After the implant has healed in the bone, a prosthetic restoration is placed on it, mimicking the patient’s natural teeth. Depending on individual conditions, the restoration on implants can be a crown (attached using an abutment), a bridge, a complete bite reconstruction (structure), or a denture on implants.

Implants are made of titanium, a metal that combines unique properties not found in any other element. Titanium is biocompatible, meaning the body tolerates it perfectly without rejecting it as a foreign body. Moreover, it is very durable, allowing it to withstand very high bite forces similar to natural tooth roots.

It's not just about aesthetics...

Dental implants are inserted when we lose our natural teeth. The decision regarding a prosthetic replacement is often made for aesthetic reasons. However, replacing only the front teeth is not the best solution. The lack of back teeth disturbs occlusal conditions, which ultimately affects both the aesthetics of the dentition and our health. The absence of molars makes it difficult to properly grind food, leading to gastrointestinal diseases, symptoms of hyperacidity, and the development of peptic ulcers.

Dental Implants in Łódź for a Lifetime

Scientific research shows that a properly placed implant can remain in the bone for the patient's entire life. To achieve this result, maintaining proper hygiene and regular check-ups are essential.

The success rate of the treatment and perioperative pain

  • Modern implants have existed for several decades - their durability and functionality are confirmed by numerous studies, so the chances of long-term maintenance of the implant increase with the development of medical knowledge. The latest solutions yield the best results.
  • The procedure of implant placement does not differ in terms of discomfort for the patient from other dental procedures in which the dentist interacts with the bone. Modern anesthetics effectively eliminate any procedure-related pain.
  • Implants can last a lifetime with the maintenance of proper hygiene and adherence to regular medical visits. Not every patient can have implants inserted - it is worth consulting a doctor regarding contraindications resulting from a lack of bone or general health conditions. A significant portion of contraindications can change due to additional treatments or procedures.
